Breakaway Vacations was established in BC’s Gulf Island’s and today still has a strong presence, but every year we look to bring you vacation homes in more and more locations across this beautiful landscape. Since 2002 we have expanded to host properties in Vancouver, Whistler, Victoria, the Okanagan as well as the surrounding areas.
In February of 2010 Breakaway Vacations was honoured to be an approved accommodations provider to the Vancouver 2010 Olympics. This was truly an opportunity for many to experience Breakaway Vacations as BC’s best vacation rental agency.
President & OwnerBruce provides all the sales and marketing skills for the company. Bruce is active within the community as a Director for the Delta Hospital Foundation, a member of the Advisory Board for the BC Government’s Business Practices and Consumer Protection Authority, and as a long time fundraiser with many local charities. Bruce enjoys golfing, cooking, wine tasting and playing basketball, he is also fluent in French.
Managing Director & OwnerWendy Fougner has been in the travel industry since she was 16 years old, when her father purchased Lloyds Travel and Cruises Ltd. She graduated from the University of British Columbia with a degree in Asian Studies and a diploma in Agriculture from the University of Saskatchewan. Throughout her life, Wendy has travelled to well over a hundred countries by many different means – cruising across the seas by ship, biking and hiking challenging terrain, canoeing and rafting along wild rivers, skiing down snowy slopes, and driving through distant lands to name a few! Wendy assumed ownership of Lloyds Travel in 1986 and is now the Owner and Managing Director of the agency. She has four children and three grandchildren with whom she likes to travel to many different exotic destinations. Recent trips include a safari through Africa, a tour of Borneo, and a bike adventure through Sri Lanka.
